There’s a dental access

crisis in Wisconsin

1.2 million live in areas with dentist shortages. Wisconsin ranks among the bottom of all states in providing dental care to Medicaid children.  In 2017 more than 300,000 went without care.  And nearly half of nursing home residents have untreated decay.

Dental Therapists Can Help

Dental therapists are midlevel providers who can fill cavities and perform simple extractions, so dentists can focus on more complex procedures.  Practices can use them to serve more patients, sending them to underserved areas and to schools, nursing homes and other locations to provide basic but critically needed care.
